Acting as the framework for projects Bivouac: Shelter for the Journey and Body Device: Combating Climate Change, this project is the first exploration of a landscape that has suffered the most extreme consequences of climate change. This palimpsest establishes the primary geometric languages used in the latter projects listed above through hand drawing, pattern overlay, and direct references to Kim Stanley’s New York 2140. As Stanley asserts an inevitable future rife with shifting landscapes, inescapable pollution, and a worsening population crisis, these sketches and layered illustrations are a reconciliation of this world.
